Mia Mountain was born in Stockholm, Sweden. The daughter of a cinematographer, she was exposed to the film industry at an early age.

In 2004 she entered the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts where she began to pursue acting as a career. During her education she wrote and performed the monologue “Also Sprach… Lou” about the philosopher, author, and psychoanalyst Lou Andreas-Salomé. This monologue was transformed into a master class at The Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts, leading to a production that toured Europe including the Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik and the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.

Two years before graduating, she had a part in Frank Wedekind’s “Lulu” at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. Upon her graduation, she was immediately offered another role at The Royal Dramatic Theatre, in the production ”Allsång” by Mats Rosén.

Mia currently resides in New York City but continues her work in Stockholm. She made her feature film debut as Katinka in Certain People which earned her a nomination for the L'Oréal Paris Rising Star Award at The Stockholm International Film Festival 2011.

At the moment Mia is performing in the acclaimed production "Sleep No More" by Emursive/Punchdrunk at The McKittrick hotel. She's doing three different characters on a rotating schedule, Celeste De Winter (Woman in bar), Pagoda (the Matron) och Hecate (Queen of the witches).
